The Revelation (Chapter 1)

I was sailing in a cradle to deep dark places I had never been before. The waves of the river were violently rocking me as their sounds echoed in the complete darkness. I had no eyesight to see where I was drifting and no voice to call for help.

Calm down, Noora, you must learn to navigate in lightness world.  I tried to control my breathing. As time passed by, the air tightened around me inch by inch. My heartbeat drummed faster and faster, aching my chest as though it would explode.

Suddenly, a chill wind hit and started shaking with shivers. I was about to freeze in the dark without a fight.  Death was nearby. I choose to sail against the wind and fight with crashing waves.

Then there was a drop, with a loud splash that swayed my cradle. The wind brought me the smell of the fragrant hibiscuses along with a beautiful song. It was a lullaby that always soothed my soul.

Someone was beside me, touching my face gently. “Come home, Noora. Come to me, my little girl,” a woman whispered to calm me down. “Noora, look for three beings, your true guardians will help you find a way to home.” Was it her? Was my Mum tending to my nightmares every night?

Suddenly, I heard loud, blasting sirens instead of my Mum’s soothing song.

“Wake up, 816! Wake up, 816! Time for the morning prayers!” Someone was shaking me gently like the rocking tides. My cradle came to a stop.

And so, I woke up, steaming wetness surrounding me. My eyesight restored, and my voice came back. “Where am I now? How was I brought here?” I asked myself why my body was sticky hot. I might have a fever. Who would help me? No one cared about nobody around here. And I was one of the nobodies in this dreadful camp.

When would the recurring nightmares stop haunting me? Was faith hiding from me? I knew I looked a lot different from the guards. I belong to this land, and the people of my nation have dark brown skin and high foreheads decorating by wavy black hair. Should my reflection give them the right to call me a low life?

I was one of the stolen girls, forbidden to speak my mother’s tongue. Living in the middle of the bushland away from my bush people, yes, I was the prisoner of this awful missionary.

My nightmares were the sign of callings from my people, telling me to work on an escape plan to find my protectors to be with my Mum. I had my secret powers. They came from our bloodline and soon would put to the test. And that’s what I needed to be ready for the day.

That is how my story began and evolved into my Dreamers Quest when I met my three beings.

Milky Way

We’re the living spirits,

Our souls mended stitch by stitch.

To the rivers!

To the ocean!

To the land!

............

Walked from the dead land,

Rose over rafts and stand,

The king of the sky gave us a hand.

To the rivers!

To the ocean!

To the land!
